Rampion

A photographic study of the on-sure impact of the off-shore wind farm on the South Coast near Brighton.

The Rampion is an off-shore wind farm located 8 miles off the Sussex coast near Brighton. It’s made up of 116 turbines, each 140 metres high and capable of producing 3-3.6 MW. The wind farm includes a 2000 tonne off-shore substation from which electricity is supplied ultimately to a purpose built sub-station in Bolney, East Sussex.

The journey that the buried power cable takes to reach Bolney has been met with some controversy since it was routed through the South Downs National Park. This route is the subject of Griffiths and Tacon’s current project which is set to be completed early 2020.
