GRIFFITHS & TACON
Griffiths and Tacon is a collaboration between UK based photographers, Laurie Griffiths and Jonty Tacon. Sharing a common interest in the photographic exploration of people and place, their individual work became a source of mutual inspiration. When the opportunity arose to produce a discrete project on the Lithuanian border town of Visaginas, Griffiths and Tacon made the decision to experiment in working together. Babochka was born out of this initial collaboration and success was to follow. Selected pieces were chosen by the Taylor Wessing Portrait Prize and shown in the National Portrait Gallery and by the Royal Academy for the Summer Exhibition. After a series of group exhibitions in 2017, a dedicated exhibition of the work was displayed by invitation of the Lithuanian Photographers’ Association back in Vilnius where the story began.
Since then, Griffiths and Tacon have continued to explore subjects as diverse as the Grenfell Tower tragedy, the abandoned Soviet mining town of Pyramiden located within the Arctic Circle and are currently working on their ongoing work concerning energy and nuclear power.
